Part A, Archetype research

In beginning this project, 3 exemplar architects and their works were chosen to be analysed, these were

Sunrise beach house, wilson Architects
Blades Residince, Morphosis
Tugun beach residence, Fairweather and Proberts

In each of these works, a large pool of information was collected and analysed against three key concepts;

A house is an environmental filter.
A house is a delightful experience.
A house is a container of human activities.

To design and analyse successfully for this brief, you must first understand what is meant by

A house is an environmental filter: How the house controls the surrounding environmental conditions, through use of window and door placement, cross ventilation techniques, passive heating and cooling systems, integration of the exterior living spaces with the interior ones, use of natural lighting

A house is a container of human activities: How the spaces are arrayed throughout the house, the interplay/segregation of public and private spaces, the arrangement of living spaces, open plan spaces, how the occupant interacts with the house as a whole and the journey a house takes the occupant on from the moment they enter.

A house is a delightful experience: the use of the sites context to create feelings of delight from its uniqueness, the aesthetic beauty of the building both inside and out, the effortless ease with which the house allows the occupant to move through and inhabit it, an intangible ephemeral experience that comes about when all aspects of design are achieved in harmony.
